The Scottish Rite Cathedral is home to the Valley of Indianapolis Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, located in downtown Indianapolis. The cathedral is world renown as one of the finest standing examples of Neo-Gothic architecture. With it's 54 bell carillon tower reaching over 200 feet, the Scottish Rite Cathedral is among the worlds largest Masonic buildings. When entering this grand edifice, visitors are greeted by the ornate stained glass and carved woodwork that adorns the Tyler's room. The cathedral also features a beautifully crafted ballroom, lounge, and auditorium. One of the most interesting features of the cathedral goes rarely noticed. The entire structure was designed only using measurements which are divisible by 3 or 33 to reflect the degrees of Freemasonry and Scottish Rite. Guided tours are available Monday through Friday, and occasional Saturdays.
